Patrick Veiga
Patrick Veiga, born in 1980, holds a PhD in microbiology and serves as Scientific Director of the MetaGenoPolis unit at INRAE — a leading center for gut microbiome research, recognized both in France and internationally. His work focuses on the fundamental interactions between the gut microbiome and diet, and how these relationships influence human health.
He is also one of the scientific directors of the national citizen science project Le French Gut, which aims to map the gut microbiome of 100,000 participants.
During a three-year stay at Harvard, he discovered Boston — the birthplace of groundbreaking microbiome-centered biotechnologies. The city naturally became the main setting of his novel.
